BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — A 20-year-old man was arrested on the 4th of July on gun and drug charges after falling asleep at the wheel in Binghamton.
According to police, on July 4 at around 6 p.m. officers on patrol found a car that was running but not moving in the road near State Street and Dennison Avenue. Officers stopped to inspect the car and found a man “slumped over the steering wheel.”
The patrol officer was able to wake the man and spoke with Lavar McDaniel, 20, of Endicott. McDaniel had an active warrant out for his arrest for felony violation of parole in Broome County and was taken into custody.
Upon inspecting the car, police found a loaded Glock 26 9mm handgun, over three ounces of meth, almost seven grams of cocaine, over eight grams of fentanyl, approximately six oxycodone pills as well as $500 cash. Weighing and packaging material was also said to be found in the car.
