    Man killed Birmingham’s East Lake neighborhood identified

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Birmingham Police Department is on the scene of a homicide investigation in the 7700 Block of 1st Avenue South Monday night.

    According to Truman Fitzgerald with BPD, East Precinct officers were dispatched to the location just after 8 p.m. An adult male was found lying unresponsive in a nearby parking lot. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

    During the preliminary investigation, detectives learned a group was shooting dice near the same spot where the victim was found. Fitzgerald stated it’s unknown if the two events are related.

    There is no one in custody at this time. Police plan to canvass the area and review local camera footage throughout the night.

    The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 30-year-old Kameron Connell.

    Those with information on the case are urged to call BPD at 205-254-1764 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
