BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Former Birmingham Stallions quarterback Adrian Martinez landed a contract with the New York Jets, the United Football League announced Saturday.

Martinez was named the 2024 UFL Most Valuable Player and led the Stallions to a UFL title on June 16. The Nebraska and Kansas State product threw for one touchdown and recorded two more on the ground in the championship contest against the San Antonio Brahmas. His performance led to him being named the UFL Championship Game Most Valuable Player.

The California native recorded four touchdown passes against the Memphis Showboats on May 4, which is the most in a UFL game. Martinez’s five total touchdowns versus the Houston Roughnecks on May 18 are also a league record. The dual-threat quarterback recorded a 138-yard rushing performance at Houston on April 27 — the second most for any player during the regular season.

The Stallions will hold Martinez’s rights if he rejoins the UFL.
