FBI Director Christopher Wray mentioned during a statement on Wednesday that there is uncertainty regarding whether former President Donald Trump was shot or struck by shrapnel when a shooter fired at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a few weeks ago.

The FBI is still conducting an investigation into the shooting incident that occurred on July 13, resulting in the death of one rally attendee and causing serious injuries to two others. As we previously reported, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was subsequently shot and killed by the Secret Service. Following the incident, Donald Trump was quickly escorted off stage while his ear was bleeding. In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform that same night, Trump recounted feeling a “whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” claiming to have been “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.”

However, during his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, Wray stated that there is still uncertainty surrounding the cause of former President Trump’s injury, whether it was from a bullet or shrapnel. “As I said, I think with respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear. So it’s conceivable, as I sit here right now, I don’t know whether that bullet in addition to, you know, causing the grazing, could have also landed somewhere else. But I believe we’ve accounted for all of the shots in the cartridges.”

As we previously reported, Kimberly Cheatle, the Director of the US Secret Service, resigned following criticism of security failures during the rally.

Many members, such as prominent Republican James Comer from Kentucky and Democrat Jamie Raskin from Maryland, called for Cheatles resignation, claiming that she had not been forthcoming with crucial details about the attack and the Secret Service’s unsuccessful attempts to prevent the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, from carrying out the attack.
