Scale modelers pass a good time sharing what they love
The Northshore Scale Modelers are an informal group of folks in the greater New Orleans area who meet to share, learn, teach and have fun in a relaxed setting the second Saturday of each month. All skill levels are welcome, from beginner to master modeler. And then, once a year, this group holds its annual expo and competition. This year, it took place on June 22 at the American Legion Hall in Covington, and some folks traveled a long way to attend. This year’s theme was "At The Movies," and it showcased more than 100 models of vehicles, characters and scenes inspired by the world of film. Expo categories included aircraft, automobiles, space/sci fi, figures and more. Special categories are also available for juniors up to 17 years old.

New Sculptures Unveiled Along the Poydras Corridor
NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Helis Foundation has just unveiled two striking new sculptures at the Poydras Corridor Sculpture Exhibition (PCSE). The first, Monumental Deity XX by the late George Dunbar, is a towering bronze piece that stands over 14 feet tall, captivating viewers between Camp St. and St. Charles Avenue. The second, Parade by Wyatt Kahn, features an abstract figure crafted from rusted steel, accompanied by everyday objects. Spanning over 15 feet wide, this installation is situated between Carondelet St. and St. Charles Avenue. Both pieces promise to enhance the neutral ground’s allure and artistic appeal.
