Prosecutor: Teen charged with stabbing 2 kids may have planned alleged attack

A 16-year-old boy arrested after two juveniles were stabbed Monday morning in West Price Hill appeared in juvenile court on Tuesday.

An 11-year-old and 14-year-old were transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries after the alleged stabbing on Monday.

In court, the teen was advised that, after a future hearing before a judge, the case could be bound over into adult court.

The teen's attorneys said his family had concerns about him coming back home, because the two children hurt in the stabbing were family members. Prosecutors asked the teen be held in custody for now, because there were "allegations it was a planned attack on his family."

Attorneys for the 16-year-old said they have concerns about his mental health and are still assessing whether his competency to stand trial is a concern. Attorneys said they plan to have a social worker team on his case.

Ultimately, the judge decided the teen would be held in custody at least until his next court hearing on July 31.

CPD said the stabbing happened around 8 a.m. in West Price Hill.
