After joining the SEC, the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners have received much attention lately. However, David Pollack recently mentioned another team in the SEC to which he wanted to give credit.

The former member of College GameDay recently appeared with OutKick . Pollack thinks the Texas A&M Aggies are a team that is "on the start of something special" with Mike Elko now at the helm.

Pollack would not be surprised if the Aggies saw a big jump under Elko in year one.

"...I don't think they're ready to go the playoff, but Notre Dame is coming to their place in Week 1. Notre Dame's gonna be in the playoff hunt this year. Notre Dame could easily lose that game to A&M," Pollack said.

"Texas at the end of the season at A&M. That could be whether Texas represents the SEC in the SEC Championship game. So, I think A&M is a team that this year I could see a huge spike, and it could be the start of something special with Mike Elko."

Elko was previously the head coach for the Duke Blue Devils, taking over for David Cutcliffe in 2022. In 2022 and 2023, Elko took Duke to consecutive bowl games for the first time since 2017 and 2018.

The first-year coach has proven he can recruit as well. Former five-star athlete Terry Bussey and former four-star inside offensive lineman Blake Ivy highlighted the 2024 class for Texas A&M.

This offseason, the program also added transfer commitments from former Iowa Hawkeyes Jake Bostick, former ECU Pirates tight end Shane Calhoun, and former Pitt Panthers linebacker Soloman DeShields.

If Elko gets off to a hot start in College Station, it will do him good. Texas A&M opens the year with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Aug. 31.
