    Emporia police make arrest after man allegedly burglarizes apartment with family inside

    EMPORIA ( KSNT ) – Emporia police have arrested a local 19-year-old after an alleged burglary at an apartment complex.

    The Emporia Police Department (EPD) announced in a press release that officers were called just after 5 a.m. on Sunday, June 30 to an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Merchant Street. A woman told police she woke up in the apartment and found an unknown man inside.

    The man allegedly pushed her against a wall and tried to cover her mouth but the woman was able to scream, alerting her husband and two children. The man, later identified as a 19-year-old Emporia man, then left the apartment and was later arrested by the EPD on aggravated burglary and aggravated assault.
