In-state 2025 QB Ryan Huff eager to get in-depth look at Gators

Three-star quarterback Ryan Huff of Pensacola Catholic (Fla.), who camped at Florida earlier this year, will return to Gainesville on July 31. But this time, he won’t be throwing for the staff; he’ll be learning about the program — and watching the first day of Gators practice.

“I’ve been talking to them a decent amount,” Huff told Gators Online. “I’ve been talking to Coach ( Billy) Napier and Coach ( Ryan ) O’Hara . (Their message is) just that they’re really serious about me. They love what I did at the camp when I went up there.”

Huff, who said he is 6-foot-3 and 217 pounds, committed to Old Dominion in March. He started at Pensacola Catholic last year after having started the previous season for another school in Kentucky.

Huff led Pensacola Catholic to a 11-3 record in 2023. He completed 56.5 percent of his passes for 2,018 yards, 14 touchdowns and 6 interceptions per MaxPreps.

Huff is the No. 90 QB in the country for On3. After having signed 5-star recruit DJ Lagway in the 2024 class, the Gators hope to bring in another high school QB this cycle. They have not offered Huff, but he is hopeful that changes.

Ryan Huff is a Kentucky native

“I’m originally from Kentucky but Florida is now my home state,” he said. “It’s closer than ODU is. But I’m big on loyalty. Obviously, it would mean a lot to me. There’ a reason I’m talking to them.”

Thus far, Huff seems to have built a good relationship with Napier and O’Hara.

“Really, it’s been not all about football,” Huff said. “Me and Coach Napier talked about 4th of July and his kid’s fishing trip. Me and Coach O’Hara just talk about different things and how he’s serious about getting me back up there. He wants me to come there and watch meetings and practice. They have a lot of good things to say about me. They’re definitely great people.”

Huff’s parents will join him on his return visit to Gainesville.

“I really just hope to get a better feel of the staff,” Huff said. “I’m not working out this time; I’ve been invited back. Camp is kind of different. So this time is just to really see what it’s all about and what they have in store for me. What the plan is.”
