Hello to All My Readers! I Hope Today Has Been Good to You!

It seems that the ideologies of a collective few grow darker and darker by the day. Unfortunately, for this new family, darkness has overshadowed what was suppose to have been an atmosphere of love, intertwined with forgiveness and forbearance, when the new husband and father displayed a special kind of hatered that has destroyed all hopes for a happy home.

Eliasard Moneus is suspected of allegedly drowning his three-month-old son in laundry detergent and physically assaulting his wifePhoto byTippecanoe County Jail

A 28-year-old Indiana man who is identified as a Haitian national, Eliasard Moneus, was taken into custody over the weekend after police found his wife battered and his 3-month-old son Jacob Moneus’ dead body drowned and stuffed in a sealed bucket of liquid laundry detergent.

Police arrived at the hospital and spoke with Moneus’ wife. She reportedly told cops that her husband of nearly a year beat her with a tire iron or wrench and then took off with their 3-month-old son, Jacob Moneus. The wife reportedly suffered a fractured skull in the incident.

According to court documents, the Lafayette Police Department began investigating 28-year-old Eliasard Moneus’ activity around noon on Saturday. At that time, officers were called to IU Health Arnett Hospital in reference to a domestic incident.

As per court records, the woman reported that Moneus had gotten upset with her on Aug. 5. She told police that between that date and Aug. 10, she and Moneus had not spoken with each other.

Moneus’ wife was watching a church service on TV Saturday morning with her baby when Eliasard Moneus, the boy’s father, came into the room and took their son; according to prosecutors. A short time later, she heard the apartment door close, then about 30 minutes after that, Eliasard Moneus came back into the room with a tire iron or wrench and started hitting her, police stated.

Eliasard Moneus left the apartment in the 2700 block of Lexington Court in Acorn Acres after attacking his wife, and she drove herself to the hospital, where she was treated for her injuries, including a skull fracture and cuts, according to prosecutors.

Officers initially searched the apartment but did not find Jacob, according to prosecutors. They did find blood splatter and other evidence of the assault.

While LPD searched for both Moneus and the child, Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert for the missing 3-month-old. The Silver Alert was announced at around 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

In the press release asking the public for assistance in locating the baby, police explained the “seriousness of the situation,” saying they believed Jacob was in “extreme danger” and may require medical assistance. The press release reported Jacob Moneus was wearing a blue shirt with a black bird on it and a diaper at the time of his disappearance.

However, the State police the Silver Alert for Jacob was canceled around 8:43 a.m. Sunday. The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office reported that it was called around 5:25 a.m. Sunday to a home along the 2500 block of Lexington Court in Lafayette for a deceased infant.

According to court documents, crime scene technicians found a baby’s body immersed in thick “dark-colored liquid”, stuffed inside an orange bucket with a snap-seal lid at approximately 4:53 a.m. Sunday. The bucket had been set next to a trash can at the residence where Eliasard had allegedly battered his wife.

In reference to the court documentation, Indianapolis police located Eliasard Moneus on the city’s northeast side at the Maison Garden apartment complex, which is located near 42nd Street and North Post Road in Lawrence and detained him in connection with his wife’s battery. Lafayette police then drove to Indy and picked up Moneus.

During an interview, police asked Eliasard if Jacob was safe. Eliasard initially told police he had no knowledge of the child’s whereabouts. When pressed further about the 3-month-old’s status, Eliasard told officers the child was okay. Court documents indicate that Eliasard did not elaborate any further on the child’s whereabouts during his interview with police.

In addition, the arrest affidavit states that Eliasard did admit to hitting his wife “two or three times” with a tool from his vehicle. It further confirmed that Eliasard told police he hoped his wife was going to die from her injuries.

The Tippecanoe County Jail logs state that Eliasard has been preliminarily charged with domestic battery resulting in serious injury, domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon, domestic battery committed with a child less than 16 years old present and attempted murder.

    Update:

As of August 12, 2024, Eliasard Moneus has officially been charged in relation to the death of Jacob Moneus, his 3-month-old son. According to court documents, Eliasard Moneus has been charged with: One count of murder. One count of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony.
