LPGA Superstar Nelly Korda Stuns Fans with Unusual Tournament Withdrawal Decision

It's never a good thing when professional golfers have to withdraw from tournaments, but for the most part, it happens as athletes choose to focus on their health, their mental health, or other personal issues that need to be addressed.

For LPGA superstar Nelly Korda, though, her reasoning for withdrawing from the LET tournament was due to an uncommon reason.

She is dealing with a dog bite injury.

Korda announced on her Instagram this week that she needs proper time to recover before getting back on the course.

"I regret to announce that I must withdraw from next week's Ladies European Tour tournament in London," Korda wrote in a statement released on Instagram . "On Saturday in Seattle, I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and fully recover."

It has been a wild season for the World No. 1 golfer. From January to May, Korda won six of the seven tournaments that she played in, including five straight victories. After that, though, she missed the cut in three consecutive tournaments, including the PGA Championship.

Now she is withdrawing due to a dog bite.

We hope for a speedy recovery for Korda and are crossing our fingers that she can return healthy before the next major of the season, the Evian Championship July 11-14.
