New artist’s bench at Noyes springs from reclaimed car parts
Another artist-made bench has appeared in the second-floor public art gallery at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St. This one is a two-seater and is altogether strange, funny and ingenious. It’s made from old car parts and even older wood by artist-contractor and Evanston resident Nate Rosalie.

To celebrate the new offices of the Music Institute of Chicago, Mark George cuts the ribbon outside 622 Davis St. George, president and CEO, calls the nonprofit Music Institute a “community music school.” It’s headquartered in Evanston – with the administrative offices, teaching facilities and the Nichols Concert Hall. It also offers classes to about 1,500 students in Chicago, Winnetka and Lake Forest. Why music? “When you do learn music, it it literally affecting every part of your body from the basic rhythm of your heart and your breathing,” said George.
