Commanders training camp's breakout player continues to put on a show

A Washington Commanders training camp breakout just keeps making plays.

The latest example of this came during joint practices with the New York Jets, so it’s not just reserved for drills and 11-on-11 work against teammates.

Said breakout is wide receiver Brycen Tremayne, a former undrafted player out of Stanford from 2023, who had some strong highlights last year around this time.

Now, he’s back at it again, making several notable tough catches over Jets defenders on an otherwise sloppy day for the Jayden Daniels-led offense that clearly has some work to do (and an offensive line depth problem to figure out).

A comment from Ben Standig of The Athletic says it all: “Guarantees in life: Death, taxes and Brycen Tremayne catching every deep pass thrown his way in camp practices. Two already today.”

The next step for Tremayne, obviously, is turning the big practice catches into solid performance in a live setting during preseason games, especially against backups. Breaking through a depth chart dominated by Terry McLaurin, former first-rounder Jahan Dotson and surging rookie Luke McCaffrey, among others, is no easy task.

Still, Tremayne’s 6’4” frame and obvious ability would be helpful as a depth option for the developing Daniels, so he’s quickly become one of the names to watch the rest of the summer ahead of roster cuts.
