( Feb. 24, 2024 ) The boys basketball team earned the 14-seed in the Div. 4 state tournament and will host the winner of 19-seed Carver and 46-seed Excel Academy Charter in the round of 32.

The Whalers were able to hold on to a spot in the top 16 and begin their playoff run on-island despite struggling down the stretch of the regular season. Nantucket finished the year 11-9 but won just two of its final seven games.

The date of the preliminary round game between the Crusaders and the Wolves is still to be announced. Carver is 13-7 and Excel Academy Charter is 11-8. The Whalers did not share any common opponents with either team this season.

On Nantucket’s side of the bracket, three-seed Monument Mountain will face the winner of 30-seed Uxbridge and 35-seed Ayer Shirley. If the top-seeded teams both win their round of 32 games, the Whalers will be forced to make a 200-mile drive from Hyannis to Great Barrington in the sweet 16.
