1 killed in morning accident on Highway 27

A Vicksburg woman, and niece of Vicksburg’s mayor George Flaggs Jr., was killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Mississippi Highway 27.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop C, troopers responded to the crash on MS-27 south, near Yvonna Nelson Ct., at approximately 6:23 a.m.

“A 1999 International Dump Truck driven by 64-year-old Riley Summers III of Vicksburg, MS, was traveling south on MS-27 when it collided with a 2008 Toyota Camry driven by 30-year-old Ondrea Flaggs, also of Vicksburg, MS,” troopers reported.  “The Dump Truck driver and the passenger of the Toyota Camry, 30-year-old Andrea Flaggs, was transported to Meriti Health with unknown injuries.”

Troopers said the driver of the Toyota, Ondrea Flaggs, received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
