Washington Commanders newcomer Jeremy Chinn, 26, is entering his fifth NFL season after spending his last four years with the Carolina Panthers.  He signed a one-year deal with the Commanders valued at $4.1 million for the 2024 season.

Chinn was recently asked about his impressions of Washington. He said that he hoped to bring the winning ways back to a franchise and city that was very successful in years past.  Chinn also said that he associates Washington football with the late Sean Taylor, admitting that he watched No. 21 as a child.

Taylor died in 2007 at the age of 24, the victim of a tragic household burglary, but his dominant play and legacy is carried on in young players like Chinn.  Chinn's best season was his rookie year, 2020 where he scored two defensive touchdowns on back-to-back plays.  His results, in recent years, were heavily impacted by the constant carousel of coaches in Carolina.  He had three defensive coordinators in four seasons.

Chinn has developed a good relationship with cornerback Emmanuel Forbes and told the media during minicamp that he is always in conversations with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels because their lockers are next to each other.

The Commanders made a total overhaul of the roster, and Chinn is one crucial piece to keep an eye on this season.
