Zach Edey led the Purdue Boilermakers to the precipice of their first NCAA basketball title only to come up short against Cam Spencer, Stephon Castle and the Connecticut Huskies.

Edey's teammates fought valiantly but could not give the Memphis Grizzlies' top ten pick enough help to knock off the defending champs.

One player who helped Edey tremendously during his last season with Coach Matt Painter's team was guard Lance Jones, a transfer from the Southern Illinois Salukis who became a defensive stopper for the Boilers.

Jones had a workout with the hometown Indiana Pacers recently that led to optimism that he would have a chance to join the hometown NBA team.

"I think it went really well," Jones said. "I feel like me, personally, I competed at a high level along with the other guys, as well," Jones said in a workout video posted by the Pacers on social media.

Jones joined Coach Painter's squad as a graduate student last season before Edey and the Boilermakers' magical run to a Big Ten championship and the NCAA Championship Game.

Jones averaged 11.7 points and 1.3 steals per game during the Boilermakers' incredible season in West Lafayette, Ind.
