Shelter Pets of the Week: Michi and Chiki
This week’s shelter pets are the sweet duo Michi and Chiki who came to the Smithtown Animal Shelter from a home that sadly did not properly care for them. They were both badly neglected, covered in fleas and suffering from hair loss. The team at the shelter has been working overtime to show these cuties what love and proper care looks like. Despite all they have endured, this bonded pair are absolutely adorable together. The shelter team is determined to write a new happy ever after for Michi and Chiki.
Casa Stellina In Farmingdale Cited As 'Impeccable'
Casa Stellina – located in Farmingdale at 300 Main Street – opened in late March 2024. Marshall Tucker concert rescheduled for Aug. 21
Due to inclement weather, the Town of Oyster Bay postponed the region’s largest National Night Out celebration with a special tribute to fallen New York Police Department (NYPD) Detective Jonathan Diller and free concert performed by the world-acclaimed Southern rock band, The Marshall Tucker Band. The event will now take place at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa on Wednesday, August 21, with a program at 7:45 p.m. and live concert at 8 p.m.

Iberico Tapas y Vino in St. James Closes Without Warning
The Spanish tapas restaurant Iberico Tapas y Vino that opened in 2021 has closed permanently. After stating that they would be on vacation this summer, Tapas y Vino has been closed down. Their webpage is down as is all of their former social media. A call placed to the restaurant’s former phone number is met with a disconnected message. No explanation was given or reason for the closure. There was also no messaging as to why.
