Marshall Tucker concert rescheduled for Aug. 21
Due to inclement weather, the Town of Oyster Bay postponed the region’s largest National Night Out celebration with a special tribute to fallen New York Police Department (NYPD) Detective Jonathan Diller and free concert performed by the world-acclaimed Southern rock band, The Marshall Tucker Band. The event will now take place at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa on Wednesday, August 21, with a program at 7:45 p.m. and live concert at 8 p.m.
Town parks are outfitted with new communication boards
The Town of Oyster Bay has been a strong proponent of inclusivity, and as part of their agenda, have recently installed play communication boards in sixteen of their public parks. The Town recently partnered with the organization Rocco’s Voice for Autism to install the inclusive play communication boards in the parks for children suffering from the developmental disorder.
Long Island lawmakers want health study for Oyster Bay contamination
A trio of elected officials on Long Island are calling for a state investigation into the possible health risks associated with ground contamination in Bethpage. Twenty-two chemical drums were discovered underneath Bethpage Community Park this year — near the site formerly used as a dumping ground by Northrop Grumman, a military contractor.

Brookhaven Councilman Manzella and Town Clerk LaValle Congratulate ShopRite Run the Farm Race Winners
On August 10, Town of Brookhaven Councilman Neil Manzella and Town Clerk Kevin LaValle co-hosted the Annual Shoprite Run the Farm 4 Mile Run/Walk to benefit Bethel Hobbs Community Farm in Centereach. Hundreds of runners and spectators attend the Run the Farm 4 Mile Run/Walk each year. This year, over 200 runners participated and more than 350 community members joined the post-race celebrations. Hunter Wilson was the male leader at 21minutes, 16 seconds and Grace Miller was the female leader at 25 minutes, 31 seconds. Ms. Miller beat her own record from last year.
