The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a stabbing around 10 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 6600 block of County Road 148 in Wildwood, a press release said . There, they found 15-year-old Connor Michael Gill and a 48-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. Paramedics rushed the victims to a hospital where Connor died around 1:20 a.m. The man is in critical but stable condition, Undersheriff Pat Breeden said.

Detectives said the teenage victim was having a sleepover when the suspect, Alexander Warren Hernandez, banged on the door. According to Breeden, Alexander forced his way inside where he stabbed Connor to death and threatened another person. The adult in the home went to see what was happening when Alexander allegedly stabbed him, too. The suspect then ran away, authorities said. With the help of a helicopter, cops found Alexander walking doing the street. He still had the murder weapons: a scythe and pocket knife, according to Breeden.

“This was no doubt a premeditated and targeted attack,” Breeden said. “Alexander told the detectives that he ordered the two weapons online. When the weapons arrived on Saturday, he unpacked the weapons, played with them for a little bit, and then he walked nearly six miles to the victim’s residence.”

Breeden said deputies are still trying to determine a motive.

The suspect is facing charges of first-degree murder , aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and armed burglary. More charges are possible. Deputies said Connor and Alexander knew each other and had withdrawn from Sumter County Schools to be homeschooled.

Cops took Alexander to the Sumter County Jail where he is being held without bond.
