Seahawks rookie Byron Murphy says defense can ‘really see the vision’ after win over LA

Overreacting to preseason games is probably what NFL fans do best. That being said, one could forgive Seahawks fans for thinking they might have one of the top defenses in the league this year and that they just might be a contender again sooner rather than later.

One of the most-thrilling elements of Seattle's preseason victory over the Chargers was seeing rookie defensive lineman Byron Murphy in his first action against live competition. Murphy did not disappoint, making at least one highlight reel tackle for a loss after shedding an LA lineman like he weighed no more than 20 pounds.

The Chargers learned quickly that they had to account for Murphy on every play. So, they started double teaming him - and occasionally even triple-teaming Murphy in order to keep him out of the bakfield.

This is glorious to see considering the Seahawks haven't had a truly dominant defensive lineman since they traded Michael Bennett to the Eagles back in 2018.

After the game was over, Murphy was one of the players who spoke with reporters. He credited head coach Mike Macdonald and said the defense can really see his vision now that they've done it in a live game.

Fantastic stuff. The team's next test will come against the Titans, who they'll have some joint practices with this week ahead of Saturday night's preseason matchup.
