Deputies are looking for whoever has been shooting at houses in the Rock Hill area.

The York County Sheriff’s Office said between Aug. 9 and Aug. 17, there have been several shootings in the areas of Ogden Road and Rambo Road in Rock Hill.

Deputies said three homes have been hit by the gunfire and there have also been six more reports of gunshots in the area.

“These incidents are not only irresponsible but incredibly dangerous, and we need the community’s help to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice,” Sheriff Kevin Tolson said in a statement. “Any information, no matter how small, could be vital to our investigation.”

Detectives shared surveillance video in which you can hear some of the gunfire.

Dugan Meredith and his wife were lying in bed two weeks ago when they heard something.

“It was like someone took a baseball bat and just smacked this wall on the outside,” Meredith said. “I fell out of bed it scared me so bad.”

The sound was a bullet hitting the side of their home.

“We’re extremely blessed and grateful that the Lord kept his protective mercy and armor around us that night, because another 2 or 3 inches … It would have come through the wall, and it would have hit one of us lying in bed,” Meredith said.

A man, who didn’t want to be identified, told Channel 9 what he saw during the time the crimes were committed. He said they appeared to be teenagers.

“I heard two young gentlemen laughing,” the witness said. “They came down the street a little more and shot right along where the stop sign is, and you could just hear them laughing.”

Neighbors don’t think there is anything funny about the situation, which has them worried.

“I’m scared I’m going to be on my lawnmower cutting grass and I may get hit with a stray bullet, or even my wife and daughter ride horses in the pasture,” Meredith said. “I’m worried for them or the horses may get hit with a stray bullet so I want the issue to go away.”

    No injuries have been reported.

York County detectives asked anyone with information to reach out to Crime Stoppers of York County. Information that leads to an arrest could result in a reward.
